In Ayurveda Dysmenorrhea is termed as Krichhra Aartava. The
term is combined of two words Krichhra meaning difficult
and Aartava meaning menstruation. Hence difficult and
painful menstruation is called Krichhra Aartava.
Treatment includes counseling, psychotherapy to modify patient's perception
of her problem. In many cases after marriage patients get rid of the problem
and some may need medical intervention.
Ayurvedic medicines found effective are Kumarika Vati, Kasheeshaadi Vati
and Vijaya Vati but these must be used only under Ayurvedic Medical
