About the Disease:
Amenorrhea is the condition that denotes absence of menstruation.
Classification: 1) Physiological Amenorrhea: Naturally prevails prior to onset of puberty, during pregnancy, lactation and after menopause.
2) Pathological Amenorrhea: It is the result of genetic factors ,systemic diseases ,endocrinopathies ,gynatresia ,nutritional factors ,drug usage, psychological and many other factors.
3) Primary Amenorrhea: Refers to failure of onset of menstruation beyond the age of 16 years regardless of development of secondary sexual characters.
4) Secondary Amenorrhea: Refers to failure of occurrence of menstruation for 6 months or longer in women who have previously menstruated.
Other sytemic symptoms are:
1) Breast tenderness
3) Body ache
4) Loss of appetite
5) Due to hormonal disturbances it may exploit the normal feminine texture and characters of the patient.
In Ayurvedic terminology the disease is called 'Anartava' which is considered to occur due to vitiation of Shareerik Dosha: Vata and Kapha with suppression of Pitta Dosha. It is best treated in Ayurveda with lesser side effects.
Panchkarma procedures Basti, Massage, Fomentation and Vaginal Tempening provide good and natural results.
Ayurvedic Medicines used are: Kumarika vati, Raja Pravartini Vati, Nashtapushpantak Ras.
Allopathic treatment includes hormonal therapy after undergoing hormonal level laboratory assessment and also the cure of underlying pathology.
